A 25 minute online webinar from Richard Daniel Curtis, founder of the Association and The Root Of It sharing his theory of social and emotional skills acquisition.
Social and Emotional Skills Acquisition Theory (SESAT) posits that social and emotional competencies, like self-awareness, empathy, and relationship management, are learned and developed over time, much like academic skills. Strong social and emotional skills act as protective factors against mental health challenges. Students who can effectively manage their emotions, navigate social situations, and build healthy relationships are better equipped to cope with stress, prevent bullying, and seek support when needed. Integrating SESAT principles into education, through explicit instruction and a supportive school environment, can foster resilience and well-being, leading to improved academic outcomes and a healthier school community.

Richard Daniel Curtis is an internationally renowned social, emotional and mental health expert and mentor. His background is a mixture of education, psychology and social care.
