AMHIE members are at the forefront of mental health in education. To support your critical role, we offer a suite of short courses based on the latest DfE policy and guidance.
This training ensures you gain a deep understanding of your statutory responsibilities and equips you with the practical strategies needed to develop and implement effective, whole-school mental health provision. Navigate complexity with confidence and help every student thrive.

These awareness courses were developed to give you an understanding of the basic principles of supporting mental health
Self-esteem and confidence awareness
A 3-part course covering:
- The definition of self-esteem
- The aspects of self-esteem
- Positive thinking
- Building self-esteem and confidence
Universal mental health awareness
A 5-part awareness course covering:
- Things you can do to support young people
- Using mentoring
- Grief or loss
- Self-harm
- Suicidal thoughts
Supporting young person’s mental health
A 5-module universal course covering:
- Understanding the mental health spectrum
- The impact difficulties can have
- Common low level mental health problems
- Ways they can help others wellbeing
Supporting social and emotional development
A 4-part course covering:
- Revision of theories of social and emotional development
- General support for optimal social and emotional development
- Causes of behaviour
- General Room or Classroom considerations
These in-depth CPD style courses were developed to give you the support to confidently and competently navigate the statutory requirements of your role
