This self-study course is an in-depth program designed for experienced leaders to refine and improve whole-school systems and processes.
- Strategic Requirements: Starts with the essence of the full Mental Health Lead role (as determined by the DfE) and the senior leader’s role in governance.
- Culture and Ethos: Features an in-depth module on whole-setting aspirations, focusing on ethos and culture to drive sustainable change.
- Monitoring and Improvement: Takes learners through the requirements for the role, ensuring monitoring and improvement cycles are robust and effective.
- Integration: Includes modules on reflecting on local mental health services for staff and pupils, and building well-being into the curriculum.

Assessment
To become a qualified Advanced Mental Health Lead and achieve the Open Awards Level 4 qualification, you must successfully complete a portfolio.
- Portfolio Submission: The portfolio is required for the qualification and needs to be submitted within 7 months of starting. It is designed to be completed as you work through the training modules.
- Attendance Certificate: Once you have completed the modules, you can download an attendance certificate.
